Date taken: Summer 2025
Instructor: Jeffrey Mummert
To design a plan for the evaluation of future technologies and their educational potential.
To evaluate present “cutting edge” technologies not yet used widely among educators.
Shark Tank proposal: Typing.Com
This artifact represents the learning outcomes above in multiple ways. This first uses Zoom's Clips feature, widely released in 2023, as a platform for recording content via Zoom Webinars and further hosting the video instead of a service like Vimeo or Youtube. This feature was easy to use and included in Education licensing, so there is potential to use this for video archiving. The presentation itself evaluates typing.com as an instructional tool to improve student digital citizenship needs as aligned with ISTE Standards for Students.
The nature of this assignment reinforced my need to be succinct and clear when presenting technologies to non-technical groups, such as future school boards and district administration leadership. This also challenged me to evaluate new software for its implementation in a classroom emvironment.
To analyze the diffusion of new technologies among educators and educational institutions.
Written Response: Should AI have a place in our classrooms?
This artifact analyzes Artificial Intelligence, one of the most significant shifts in education technology in recent memory. The prompt allowed me to expand beyond AI Large Learning Model (LLM) Chatbots such as Gemini and ChatGPT, two of the most recognized names in this space.
To investigate the technologies that were readily adopted by educators in the recent past, but are no longer widely used.
Written Response: Analyzing the Horizon Reports.
This artifact represents the listed outcome through reading the Horizon Reports, which analyzes trends in education and technology. By looking through past predictions, I can see what and why different technologies were or were not used. This artifact affected my learning by showing these recent trends and and the speed at which ed tech currently moves. As an education technology leader, I will need to be prepared for impactful tools that may not exist yet.
